Overview: As Executive Director of the Humane Society, you'll infuse our organization with positivity and drive, setting the tone for our brand. Your leadership will steer our operations and champion community education and fundraising efforts. Collaborating closely with our leadership team and volunteers, you'll ensure we stay true to our values and propel our mission forward, cultivating a culture that's not just productive, but also uplifting and ethical.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Board of Governors to set organizational priorities, establish policies, and ensure effective leadership across all departments.
- Manage financial stability in conjunction with the finance committee, overseeing budgeting, resource allocation, and financial performance.
- Work closely with the leadership team to develop and execute major plans, ensuring coordinated operations and communication.
- Lead talent management, implementing effective recruitment and development initiatives, and overseeing HR practices.
- Set performance standards and conduct performance reviews with guidance from the Board of Governors.
- Strengthen community relations and oversee volunteer interactions, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Maintain and expand education programs targeting diverse audiences, including students, families, and community groups.
- Lead efforts to raise awareness about animal welfare issues and advocate for humane treatment, including involvement in ordinance changes.
- Plan and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including events, campaigns, grants, and donor development.
Qualifications/Core Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree, with 5+ years of management experience preferred, ideally in a non-profit setting.
- Professional demeanor with exceptional communication skills, adept at working harmoniously with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding customer service skills, ensuring exceptional experiences for all stakeholders.
- Demonstrated mastery of organizational skills, including meticulous record-keeping, effective time management, and diligent follow-up.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven capacity to manage relationships and provide inspirational leadership to subordinates.
- Skilled in creating and nurturing a collaborative team environment, fostering innovation and cohesion.
- Unwavering attention to detail and adept at prioritizing tasks, with a relentless focus on quality and accuracy.
- Core competencies encompass Finance, Communication, Marketing, and Business acumen, showcasing a well-rounded skill set essential for organizational success.

- Growth in public awareness and understanding of animal welfare issues as evidenced by increased foot traffic in facility, adoption rates and reduction in overall animal numbers
- Achievement of fundraising goals, including donor engagement, revenue generation, and sustainability for the organization.
- The number of educational programs offered and participants reached.
- Positive feedback from program participants, volunteers, and community partners.
- Increase in community engagement in vaccine clinics and increase in sales of preventatives and other inventory.
